Chapter Six

So this is what real desire felt like, Heather thought as Seth paid for the pizza and then escorted her back out to the waiting cab.

Yeah, this was new.

She hadn’t felt this for boyfriends in high school or college and not even for any of the super nice guys she’d met in Nebraska. And she knew exactly what it was. It was pure. It was just desire. It was I want to do really dirty things with this guy all night long with a guy she knew, liked and trusted.

That combination of liking him and wanting to take her clothes off with him and not expecting anything tomorrow was tough to find. Maybe impossible. She sure hadn’t felt it before. It seemed like before, the attraction always came with something else—expectations about the next day, and the next week, and even further.

And hell, those expectations had mostly been hers. She was sure there had been guys along the way who would have had a fling with her. But she was the one who always wondered what everything meant and what would happen next.

She knew Seth. Seth was a good time. Seth was not a settle-down guy. And she was only here for the weekend. Really, just tonight, like he’d said. Tomorrow, Greg would be with them again. So if she wanted to just enjoy this incredible chemistry and the absolutely delicious things Seth was making her feel, she could. They both knew what was going to happen tomorrow.

Nothing.

Not really. She’d go back to Nebraska for the next couple of months so there was no awkward what-do-we-do-now moment immediately after tonight. And by the time she moved back to Baltimore, Seth would have dated at least a couple of new women, and they could go back to being mostly friends through Greg.

Heather frowned as she got into the cab and slid over for Seth to join her. The thing was, this felt like more than friends through Greg. Seth knew how she ate her grilled cheese. He knew her birthday.

She glanced over at him. Did Greg know her birthday? He probably had it in his planner or on an automatic notification on his phone. He always shot her an email on April thirtieth. But did he really know it?

Seth gave the driver the address for her hotel, and she focused on his lips. The lips that kissed her with a heat she’d never felt before. The mouth that had sucked on her fingers after she’d put them…

Heather blushed. She couldn’t believe she’d done that. But she’d been completely caught up in him and the dirty things he was saying, and she’d definitely wanted to do it. She wanted everything else too. She wanted his mouth on everything else.

She reached under her skirt and slid her panties off.

“Uh…”

She looked up to find Seth watching her. She grinned. “What?” She reached behind and unhooked her bra and then worked it down first one arm, then the other until she could pull it loose from her shirt.
